Group offers free, low-cost events tickets for military families
The Armed Forces Tickets Association - a Cincinnati nonprofit that provides events tickets for military families - will launch its program and Web site March 27.
AFTA offers active military personnel and their families free and discounted tickets to their partner organizations' events, according to a news release. Some of the 30 partner organizations include: the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Cyclones hockey team.
"My hope was that making these events available at little or no cost would give these folks some brief moments of peace and enjoyment, a break away from the daily stresses of life in a military family during a time of war," said Joyce Elkus, who founded the association cash advance.
To access AFTA, military families can visit www.afta-cincinnati.org and click on the "Partners" tab to see what tickets are available. Then they can call the partner's box office for tickets and show a military ID to pick them up at the event, Elkus said.
