Heart hospital teams up with Blue Cross and Blue Shield
TexSAn Heart Hospital and its physician partners have inked a managed-care agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, the companies announced today.
The new pact will allow about 200,000 Blue Cross enrollees in the San Antonio area to have insured access to the TexSAn hospital and its physicians.

(NASDAQ: MDTH). MedCath is the Charlotte, N.C., health care company that owns and operates TexSAn and nine other hospitals across the country. TexSAn is a licensed acute-care facility specializing in providing cardiovascular care to the Southwest Texas region. Opened in January 2004, the hospital recently announced an expansion project that will double existing capacity to 120-beds.
The Blue Cross agreement, effective on April 1, 2008, opens the door for enrollees in the company's Traditional, BlueChoice(R), BlueChoice Solutions and HMO plans. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is a customer-owned health insurer. The company works with nearly 40,000 physicians and 400 hospitals to serve 3.8 million members in all 254 counties of Texas.
