Regents to name 3 community college heads

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents is expected to name three community college chancellors this week.

Helen Cox, a Utah educator, is expected to be named chancellor of Kauai Community College.

Cox is the associate vice president of instruction at Salt Lake Community College in Utah. Her recommended term is for three years starting Aug. 12 at an annual salary of $150,000.

Cox would replace Peggy Cha, who will retire this fall after 10 years in the position.

Manuel Cabral Jr. is expected to be named chancellor of the Leeward Community College campus.

Cabral has been serving as interim chancellor of the Central Oahu school since March 2007, and has been a faculty member at the campus for almost 30 years payday advance low fees.

His recommended term is for three years starting June 1, at an annual salary of $155,016.

Michael Rota, associate vice president for academic affairs for the UH community colleges, is expected to be named interim chancellor for Honolulu Community College.

Rota's recommended term starts July 1, at an annual salary of $168,216.

He would be replacing Ramsey Pederson, who will retire in June after seven years in the position.

The Board of Regents is expected to vote on the appointments at their monthly meeting in Kapolei on Thursday and Friday.
